The San Diego neighborhood of Encanto is actually comprised of several individual communities, including Chollas View, Lincoln Park, Emerald Hills, Valencia Park, Encanto, Broadway Heights, and Alta Vista.  The encompassing district can be divided into North and South Encanto, with the main thoroughfare Broadway dividing the two enclaves.  Situated just south of the Martin Luther King Junior Freeway, with I-805 to the west, the community of Encanto is characterized by its rolling hills and wide open spaces. Encanto residents value strong community involvement and the city provides many services and opportunities to enjoy fellowship with neighbors and enhance personal well-being.  The Encanto Recreation Center offers sports programs like Youth Soccer and Men’s/ Women’s Basketball, and also hosts several events and classes throughout the year.  Families enjoy sponsored Teen Nights, a Spring Easter Egg Hunt, and cooking and craft lessons.  The Recreation Center features a tot lot for little ones and mom’s to gather during the day, and a picnic area for relaxing with neighbors or soaking up the scenery of the area. Encanto is served by an efficient public transportation system that includes a San Diego Trolley Station, which offers a central hub near Euclid and Market Street.  Residents arrive into exciting downtown San Diego in a short 15 minutes aboard the San Diego Trolley.  Dining options in Encanto include fast food eateries, bakeries, and international-themed casual restaurants.  Big-chain and independent grocery markets, convenience stores, and retail outlets line the streets of this slow-paced community.  Government services, like a local post office are also available.   Situated less than 10 miles from the Pacific Ocean, residents of Encanto are close to beaches in the popular North County area, as well as fantastic destinations in the south, such as the beautiful Mission Bay.
